*Job Title: *Loss Control Representative
*Reports To: *Loss Control Manager
*Department*: Loss Control
*Summary: *Provides Loss Control services to provide account information and evaluation to assist underwriters in evaluating, selecting, pricing, and successfully underwriting accounts.
Also evaluates account’s operations, loss exposures, and hazard controls in place or needed to control/reduce claims and loss potential on accounts.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities *include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Works semi-independently from in home or company office to service client companies.
Surveys current and prospective accounts to provide detailed information to underwriting about the type, extent, and nature of account operations, management, employees, machinery and equipment, etc.
Reports this detailed information to underwriting with a judgment about the desirability of the account as an insurance risk, and recommendations needed to control potential loss exposures, hazards, and management safety deficiencies.
Interprets rules and regulations in developing a risk assessment of site specific conditions.
Evaluates, interprets, and makes recommendations based on the risks and environmental conditions of a site.
Receives Loss Control survey requests and schedules time, travel, and account appointments for Loss Control work to be achieved in a timely manner.
Conducts Loss Control surveys and provides consultation services for accounts up to and including large or technically complex accounts.
Formulates and seeks account management commitment to implement appropriate recommendations for necessary safety program improvements and correction of inadequate hazard controls.
Completes loss control survey report and submits with the appropriate loss control recommendations by the request due date.
Works semi-independently with underwriting, agency, and account personnel to resolve low to moderately complex loss control survey questions and problems.
Provides Loss Control consultation services to member accounts as assigned to improve the underwriting desirability of the account and control/reduce potential claims and losses.
Formulates account loss control service plans, prepares account service proposals, and makes service proposal presentations to clients and prospective accounts.
Assists the department manager in developing staff training materials and programs.
Assists the department manager with training and assisting loss control trainees and less experienced loss control representatives in the progressive development of their loss control skills.
