We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Engineering with a specialized focus in civil engineering to lead our engineering department.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing projects related to land planning, public and private road systems, storm drainage, utilities, site grading, soil erosion and sediment controls, hydrology, hydraulics, and traffic control plans.
This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record of successful project management within the civil engineering field.
*Key Responsibilities:* * *Project Management:* * Lead and oversee civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
* Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with project teams.
* Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
* Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
* *Technical Expertise:* * Provide technical guidance and expertise in civil engineering disciplines, including land planning, road systems, storm drainage, utilities, site grading, soil erosion and sediment controls, hydrology, hydraulics, and traffic control plans.
* Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
* Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and efficiency in engineering practices.
* *Team Leadership:* * Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
* Provide leadership and direction to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
* Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development initiatives for team members.
* *Client Management:* * Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
* Collaborate with clients to understand their project requirements, objectives, and expectations.
* Communicate project updates, milestones, and deliverables to clients in a clear and professional manner.
* *Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:* * Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and codes related to civil engineering projects.
* Liaise with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals for project execution.
* Keep abreast of changes in regulations and ensure that engineering practices align with legal requirements.
*Qualifications:* * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
* Proven experience (minimum of 10 years) in civil engineering project management, with a focus on land planning, road systems, storm drainage, utilities, site grading, soil erosion and sediment controls, hydrology, hydraulics, and traffic control plans.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant engineering software and tools.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
