Open Position: Director of Technology
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Technology is responsible for overall leadership and development of the IT, MIS, and Business analytics departments.
This includes the strategy, organization and maintenance of all existing technology-based functions, with a strong focus on new technology/data-based solutions.
In addition, the Director of Technology will be responsible for the company’s overall cyber security policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Management: Leads and directs the MIS, Business Analytics, and IT departments to position the company to be the most efficient and profitable with current and new technology.
Represents the overall Technology department on the Senior Management Team and assists in efficiency across all company departments through problem-solving with technology/data driven solutions.
Takes the information back to staff to problem solve and implement.
Performs salary administration and conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnel.
Manages staff’s continuing education programs and certifications to foster a culture of growth and development amongst team.
Strategic Vision: Oversee the design and architecture of new technology solutions to meet business requirements.
Including implementation of Artificial Intelligence/data-based automation solutions throughout the various company departments and locations.
Cyber Security and Compliance: Consistently evaluates and manages all company cyber security policies and procedures, while assessing future needs and implementing solutions.
IT/IS Functions and Networks: Knowledge of general IT/IS functions and applications with a broad understanding of hardware, software, programing, and security.
Understanding of the design, configuration, maintenance, security, and hardware associated with both wired and wireless networks.
Project Management: Directs and prioritizes technology projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
Produces detailed timeline for each project and implements effective project control by collaborating with project teams across departments to ensure consistent scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Vendor Management: Responsible for researching and managing third party technology software applications as needed for a technology-based solution.
Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains third party contracts.
SUPERVISION 1.
Uses strengths-based supervision so each person supervised comes to know his/her own strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day work.
2.
Ensures that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
3.
Provides clear expectations for each supervised staff.
4.
Models adherence to GDH’s Values and holds staff accountable for knowing and practicing the values.
5.
Completes coaching regularly of supervised staff performance evaluations annually by due date.
6.
Provides direct supervision to the IT Managers and other IT staff as assigned.
LEARNING ORGANIZATION AND STAFF TRAINING Actively participates in internal and external training opportunities.
Exhibits enthusiasm for learning and personal growth.
Understands and can describe key components of all GDH’s business lines, customers, and suppliers.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP Represents GDH Values and follows GDH Values within the community at all times.
TECHNOLOGY Effectively uses office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer.
Efficiently uses operations management software, including VIP.
QUALIFICATIONS Preferred minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, programming or another closely related field.
Business experience minimum of ten years of progressive experience in Information Technology/Information Software with managerial and business background.
Extensive knowledge of Information Technology and business application Extensive knowledge of cyber security regulations and standards.
CISSP certified or higher preferred.
Future focused with the ability to implement and apply “AI” and data driven automated solutions to various business applications.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with an ERP or RAS management software.
Prior use of VIP or similar software package is preferred.
General knowledge of multiple development languages/frameworks and databases including but not limited to JavaScript, Python, OpenAI, SQL Server etc.
Experience with implementing and applying APIs to various software applications Access to reliable transportation.
If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence and auto insurance.
Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.
Work effectively as a member of a team.
Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.
Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS Frequently (50%+ of time) required to walk and talk or hear.
Occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel object, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally (less than 25% of time) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Frequently (50%+ of time) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.
Occasionally (less than 25% of time) exposed to moving mechanical equipment and fumes or airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet Frequently (more than 50% of time) travel throughout the GDH sites.
Occasional (less than 25% of time) weekend and/or overtime work, primarily at start-up or when taking on new business.
